I would love to be a store detective - I think sometimes people think I'm watching them (which I am, but not intentionally!) and it's amazing how fidgety they get, even though they haven't done anything!

Truble is with being a store detective, you have to travel quite a large distance around stores because they don't want the risk of you becoming "known". As you may have guessed, I've already looked into this possibility!    (and ruled it out!!!!!)

Not the case at all, the places you get asked to visit are a high staff turnaround, but lets be honest if you are in the public sector, you are forgotton as soon as you walk out of the store..

It IS the case round here Neil because I have enquired, and know people who are store detectives and they have to cover the entire county....

Maybe it differs whereever you are in the country....

Well after a couple of weeks of thought, Ive decided that teaching assistant is NOT the job for me, so I cancelled my place on the training course yesterday (2 weeks to start date) to give someone else a chance. So I am still no further on in my search for a job than the day I started searching.

I do have 2 applications in with the NHS to work in one of the local hospitals, but it can take up to 6 weeks to hear anything. (only 3 weeks to go)

Nigel ?  Oh yeah, he's up there !

You shoulda done the course Nigel.... something else to put on your CV. Still. Too late now that you've cancelled it...  why not do like I did with my redundancy thing and bounce your ideas off people on here - the more opinions the better I say!!!

I really wouldn't know what ideas to bounce of you. My maximum hours for work are 9.15 - 5.00 (includes 1 1/2 hours with childminder) Mon - Fri.
Am willing to go to College to train for a new trade, but have no idea what I would want to pursue as a career. I need a job where every day is different.

Its a shame you didn't carry on the course Nigel. I teach 'sort of' abd its very rewarding. Being a teacher doesn't necessarily mean having a class.

Its a shame, but good luck with th other avenues you're following!

I am all the things I regret
