Whats the Model of the NEC phone Les? I can have a look for you.
Problem is nowadays that a lot of mobiles need a dongle to unlock them yourself, unlike a year or so ago when all you needed was a simple code which could easily be generated, or a serial cable which was used in conjunction with unlock software.
Many operators will give you an unlock code too for a small fee, or as in my case with Virgin Mobile, the code will be sent free as long as you have spent over £30 in credit on the phone since it was activated.
I have also heard (truthful or not I don't know) that Carphone Warehouse will unlock for £8 so might be worth giving them a call first.
my friend got a nokia 6680 on contract,he was getting it for his girlfriends birthday, but they went to england before hed given it to her and lost it or it was stolen....he wasnt sure at the time if hed left it back home,so he waited until he came back, but then discovered it wasnt there either.
he got on to 3g,and told them, they sent him another as hed paid insurance, but they barred it cos a bill had been run up.
they said they knew that his phone had been booked in for repair in england..proving that it had been stolen there...hed never even switched it on,but since he refused to pay the bill for some-one else..they have kept a barr on the replacement..he kicked off and asked why he paid insurance in the first place and why did they send him a phone that he couldnt use.
the thing is....hes been asking around and wants to chip it to PAYG with his own sim...is this a good idea? ..and does the barr not mean the phone is useless now?
BTW,i have an old sagem mobile phone that i only used cos i loved the game on it,but out of the blue it died and wouldnt switch on,i tried charging it but it is dead...has anyone any idea what happened there?..should i just throw it in the bin?
