It's too hard to have a single favourite - BUT if I had to pin one down to sum up the 80s I'd probably say Blue Monday by New Order!
It's not (musically) a great song really, but it always reminds me of 1983: my first serious girlfriend, going to a youth club in Kirkby-in-Ashfield on Friday nights, leaving school, a long hot summer.
Great, carefree times......
By the way, does anyone else remember these obscure little gems?
The safety dance - Men without hats The last film - Kissing the pink Just got lucky - The Jo-Boxers Don't tell me - Blancmange King in a catholic style - China crisis No-one driving - John Foxx Dancing tight - Galaxy
These ones aren't by any means favourites, but they're pretty worthy. I'm listening to most of them at the mo!
ok, i'm going to start with Lament by Ultravox. I saw them live in Leicester on their final tour and they were amazing. Lament just seemed to stand out from the rest - so atmospheric and sort of spooky as well, a real spine tingler.
