omj, whenever I xperience this, the doctors say it is stress. Dunno if that is really the case, but it does tend to happen when I'm stressed, so maybe it's something to do with it.

Keep a diary for three/four months then go and see a Doctor.

That's all I can suggest....

I can't think of anything particularly stressful at the moment. Normally I'm pretty regular - this is why I was so taken aback this time.

I have fibroids, which explains the heaviness, and I get tablets for that, though they're a bit hit and miss. Then I read other women's accounts and think I'm getting off lightly.

I have a distinct lack of female relatives to compare notes with. I've no idea when my mother entered the menopause - the only symptom she would admit to was not being able to swallow. Her sister, my aunt, had really bad fibroids and bleeding, and ended up having a hysterectomy. I can't remember how old she was, though. So I'm scared of things getting worse, and I want to keep the thing as long as possible (never having used it, I'm rather attached to it, and for all I know I might need it sometime - optimistic at my age, I know, but there you go.

Not very easy to compare notes with an unmarried elder brother, so thanks for the advice. If things keep going haywire, I'll see the doctor again.

Yes good idea OMJ.... like you say, you dont want to leave it in case it makes matters worse. Let us know how you go.

BTW, I didnt know fibroids could cause trouble like that.... Ive a friend who has them, and she was told that treatment isnt necessary

So sorry to hear you have been unwell, omj. I am lucky with that side of things, but I know my Mum had a hard time with her bleeding. Sounds as though you are doing all the right things. There can be lots of different reasons for a change like that and your GP should be best able to help. Hoping that things improve for you soon.
