I teach a sesion on PC safety, and personal safety online. You really should attend one of my courses...

I know its not funny, but its so easily preventable, and I hear this sort of thing day in day out and its very frustrating.

Let me tell you a secret....

I have made, as a sample for the learners, a bogus email, and a bogus website for a bank. Purposely it doesn't look real, nor even atempt to be, but I can easily make it so. Anyway, i send the learners an email, and tell them to treat it as if it were from their bank, and it warns the will have their account closed if they don't click this link, and log in.
So they do, and enter any old name, and a essage as a password. all looks nice.

Then I go away for two minutes, and then return and tell them the name they used, and the secret message they typed.

Do you think it scared them? You bet it does....

And they always, ALWAYS, take on board what I tell them from then about security, and they cannot beleive afterwards how silly  they feel, because they actually see how easy it is to be safe online.

Moral? use common sense, don't download from dodgy sites. Don't click any old link just because it says so. Always use up to date antivirus and firewalls.

Sorry it happened to you Amber, but please, make sure you take time out to make your PC safe!

If anyone would like to see this activity, and see how easily I can get information from you (and hundreds fall for it every day) let me know, and I'll send you that 'dodgy' email, and instructions, for before, and how to spot it afterwards. Its a pleasure.

I know its off topic, so rather than go on here, I'll post this to the tecchy section. Please take a look, I really take this sort of thing seriously!

Thanks, Corky...

Eh, i never click on unknown emails or any advertisments (even, when one email said, i had won million), but this song, so sweet, so nice, i wanted to get it so...

How many times have feelings vanished in your head?
How many times must they be lost before they're said?

My worst nightmare happened today, which can go straight into Room 101.

I was sandwiched in a traffic jam between 2 Audis I was having hot sweats, tremors and panic attacks (OK, maybe not, but you know what I mean!!!!)

Luckily it was only for five minutes, but "phew!" what an experience....

Yeah yeah, I can hear the 'Traitor' chants already........

I was actually IN an Audi the other day, the new Line manager drives one, and we had to attend a meeting in Birkenhead so I was passenger and partner to this atrocity. I have since showered several times and painted 'unclean' on the front door of our house.......

On the good side, she did explain how she left the handbrake off and it rolled down the street one day last week. Oh the fun these Audi drivers have

(I was told I will face the sack on Tuesday if I posted this as promised, By the way....)

For SHAME, Corky!

People throwing trash out of their car windows (soda cup from fast food place - complete with flying ice)!  Only it wasn't an Audi.  It was a Honda.  >

Passing the life and times back and forth
Across the table with you, my ideal friend.
