I'd plump for Sleepwalk - if it was on the list!

Hey, why is it that a like this poll?

I voted Dancing with tears in my eyes because it was one of the first singles I treasured.
Had seen the romantic videoclip on the screen and was in love with the guitar solo.

Ofcourse Vienna is a standout classic and I also count The voice (missing in the list),
Reap the wild, Hymn and Love's great adventure amongst the better Ultravox tracks.

I was never too keen on The thin wall or Visions in blue.

I'm looking forward to the next poll ...

From the list I'd go for Vienna. Single wise though its The Voice. Of all their stuff I really like A Friend I call Desire.

You're right dazzler, i have missed the voice off the list. Do'nt know how i managed to do that and it's too late to edit the poll now. Apologies to anyone else who might have wanted to vote for it,but you can still vote and post it as your favourite.

I have also gone for Lament, but would have gone for The Voice or One Small Day.

As Neil said, this was a tough one, some great music, but weren't too great at video (check youtube).

I have to admit, I hadn't seen this one, and it was apparently banned in USA. (And I thought the UK were the prudes, Mary Whitehouse et al)

It only showed a brief moment of a couple of ladies semi-naked. How times have changed.

nice to see some posts coming in for sleepwalk and passing strangers, both very good early ultravox singles, but not amongst their biggest sellers - hence their omission from the poll

Sorry to bring up and 'old' thread but I've been listening to "The Vox" a fair but lately and so i put my vote in .. All Stood Still" although my fave is Sleepwalk as it was one of my famous 'jaw droppers' from TOTP performance,( like OMD Messages. or Human league Rock n Roll) .

I always thought Vienna worked well in the album context but didn't think of it as a single .. how wrong can you be eh readers?

Nothing wrong with bringing up `old` threads Mark.... especially to post good posts Lol..... I watched them do Sleepwalk on one of the music channels, and `jaw dropper` pretty much sums it up.

It would be Reap The Wild Wind. Am I the only one to think Vienna - although a cracking tune - has been played to death??

yeah you're both right .. whenever it comes on I sort of think "groan..we've got to plough through this again .   ."

"Reap" is a nice choice, although Quartet album was a total disappointment for moi

I'm off to see ol' Midge in October - he is coming over here to do a gig.  Have been listening to the "best of" and another cd which has both Ultravox and solo stuff from the main man over the last few days.  One track which keeps being played is "Call of the Wild", I just can't get enough of that tune.

Love Ultravox, joint favorites with Alphaville as best ever band.

Of those there, Reap The Wild Wind is my choice for three reasons:

1. It's an ace track
2. The video was great and everyone was talking about it in the school playground the morning after TOTP
3. It's the only melody I can play off by heart on a keyboard (I can also do the Mode's Just Can't Get Enough, but normally mess it up a few times first...)

BTW, I always have to attempt both in any shop where there are keyboards on display...
