I was completely gobsmacked when I heard about this... and in a VERY excited way! It just so happens that Erasure are playing in my town on my 35th birthday, and hubby was already planning on getting tickets to take me to see them as my pressie!
This news is the cream and cherry on top of the cake for me! I've been thinking over the last month or so that it would be fab to see Onetwo play, Claudia has a beautiful voice, no point in me adding any more of what I think of Paul than you lot will already know , and their music is fantastic (although Home (tonight) may make me cry hearing it live). Never thought it would happen so soon... if at all!
I AM SO EXCITED!!! This is going to be one hell of a birthday to remember... I just have to make sure that I have my own camera this time
I'd love to hear Kein Anschluß myself (I must have a thing for foreign language pop) - if only to hear the thunderclap at the end. So dramatic!
I wonder if they will play Sister. Now that one brings me to tears.
Listening to the kind of stuff Paul is doing now makes me drool for the new OMD album even more!

Good news for Onetwo..
Used to like Erasure, but there is a thread called worse concert ever, and I am afraid that one of the worse concerts I have ever been too was Erasure!!
I just hope that the Erasure fans do not slate Onetwo before they hear them... Like the some OMD fans slated Lovers Electric before they ever heard them

You know, I still haven't got the One/Two album yet....... I really must get this.
Do! The myspace clips don't do the tracks justice. Stylistically, to me it seems similar early "ambient" b-sides (Navigation, Sacred Heart, Annex) and a little bit of Listening Pool (but only for one track, Anonymous), but slickier somehow edgier, and even a little darker. (If it makes a difference, this is coming from someone who heard Item and Instead first, before any b-sides.)

At least they have the advantage of having been known (albeit from other bands) and were popular in the same time period as Erasure. Perhaps curiosity will overrule prejudice.

I made myself a promise to get it on payday of last month, after hearing the tacks on MySpace... Kept my promise and ordered it. At first I ordered it from HMV, but they were sourcing it from their suppliers, so I went straight to theremusic.com and ordered it direct, plus I ordered the 12" of Kein Anschluss (sorry, don't know how to do those s thingies) and Home So, instead of spending £9.99 on HMV I spent a total of £19.98 I wanted a tee-shirt too, but really couldn't justify it. I'm now waiting impatiently for my goodies to arrive!

I hope you're right. In many respects it seems logical to have Onetwo supporting Erasure. Or is that just my synth loving side taking over because I'll get to see two of my personal fave synths guys in the same night? I think that there's probably enough of an older following of Erasure (yeah, old gits like me) who'll remember Propaganda and OMD from that era to give them a chance. I certainly hope so.
I'm wondering what the audience at Grimsby will be like... for OMD most of them were in the bar while Lover's Electric were on - which I personally think is a shame. I can't help wondering if similar will happen in September? Still, we're likely to be packed out with the Hull and Lincoln fans too. Sounds like there will be a fair number of OMD fans popping along to various shows now the news is out though, so there should be a hardcore contingent at some shows who are there to see - and enjoy - Onetwo. Personally my mind is still boggling from having been told by people who've been before just how gay the audience will be (if you get my drift) Grimsby and Gay are two words that just don't somehow go together!
And it goes without saying that, so long as Mr AirSynths doesn't let me down and I also get my camera back in time, I'll share my photos with you all. And I even have my own webspace now, so no more dodgy sites that don't quite work properly!

Oh, and talking of Erasure, we had a bit of a shock when we watched the video for The Circus on YouTube the other day... Grimsby features in it! Quite prominently... and the bridge at the beginning is literally yards from my house! I cross it everyday! I think we watched it about 10 times pausing on all the local landmarks!
Kein Anschluss (sorry, don't know how to do those s thingies)
Hehe. I cheated and copied it from their myspace site. I didn't think it would work, but this is one sophisticated site (Thanks Neil!). Theremusic is really efficient. I think it only took 10 days from UK to US for my order.

Yeah, I think all those synth-pop guys know each other. Didn't PaulH play on Andy Bell's solo project?
