Burned a EURYTHMICS compilation for own use.
Took all the hits from albums 2,3,4 and 5 and ended with The Walk (forgotten pre-Sweet Dreams single)
and This City never Sleeps (closing track from the Sweet Dreams album ... a bit like OMDs Stanlow).

Love is a Stranger, Sweet Dreams and Here comes the rain again are in my top 3.
Standout singles are too: Who's that Girl, There must be an Angel and Miracle of Love.
Not so keen on Right by your Side, Sexcrime and When tomorrow comes.

Sweet Dreams and Touch are two great albums: love them most in their synth period.
Still have to sell these two remastered albums + Be yourself tonight: their three quintessential efforts.

I think I must go to sleep now ... in the City ...

I went for Would I Lie For You. Bought the 8-CD box with all the remastered albums. Too bad it didn't include Touch Dance (My favourite album), and 1984.

Went for Sweet Dreams .... never really liked them much at the time after the first 'electronic album' but I think the songs have aged really well and Annie Lennox has one of the best voices ...

Certainly prefer When Tomorrow Comes over Only Tears (..think about it....)

After much deliberation I went for 'Sweet Dreams'. Loved it then, still love it now. But close on it's heels were 'When tomorrow comes' 'There must be an Angel' 'Here comes the rain again' and 'Love is a stranger'. Very hard for me to choose!

I've gone for "Right By Your Side" . No real reason for it, just a choice between 4 records I like and that one came out top at this moment in time.

So strange that When tomorrow comes (my least favourite one of the list) is a huge favourite here.
That's when a poll makes me think: let's give that song another try ... maybe I put on the wrong ears before ...

I still have to BUY those three albums (not SELL).

About the RCA released box: No Touch dance, but no 1984 either (a Virgin album).
That's such a shame ... the Sexcrime single isn't even on their latest greatest hits: naughty record companies!!!

Thanks for the replies so far ...

Love Is A Stranger.  It's cool and creepy at the same time.

Ooh, I forgot to mention that I went for Here comes the Rain again.
Sweert Dreams is their best track in my opinion, but Here comes the Rain again has a lot of yummy synth strings.

I loved those mid 80s singles with this kind of string arrangements.
Listen to Wishful Thinking by China Crisis or Sounds like a Melody by Alphaville ... as 80s as can be.
Or The unforgettable Fire by U2 and ofcourse the real strings on ABC's All of my Heart.
And one of my all time favourites in this category: Thank you, a completely overlooked gem by the Pale Fountains.

Now you know why I'm such a fan of La Femme accident too ... an underestimated OMD single.

Having had a chance to listen to several of these tracks this afternoon, I would like to change my choice in the poll to Love is a Stranger.

When Tomorrow Comes - A very close runner up. I did buy this as a 7" single and is still in my collection.
The intro to SWEET DREAMS is an unmistakeable classic, but I soon lost interest in the track.
Thorn in my Side is another great song, but brings back memories I would rather forget.

I picked ''Here comes the rain again''. Also I liked what they did as The Tourists - their cover of 'I only want to be with you' and the later singles 'Dont say I told you so' and 'so good to be back home.

That was a tough one, went with Here Comes The Rain Again as I love the strings and I just think it's an incredibly haunting song.

It would have been followed by any of Sweet Dreams, Love Is A Stranger, Sex Crime, Shame and Beethoven.  Which reminds me, where were they on your poll?

Atm it's Right By Your Side, since I managed to get a copy of the 12 min extended version (which was not included on the remasters), although every song on Touch is great.

Funny to see one of my threads all up,
because I've been away for quite a while.
When I'm on the official one I'm not here and the other way round.
Just too lazy to entertain people on both sides.

I added two more tracks to my EURTYHMICS compilation.
In fact I wanted to expand it to 18 tracks, but it's impossible
because Paint a Rumour is too long ...

Paint a Rumour and Jennifer are the ones I added.
I think the first one is a very simply but clever and hypnotising track:
I just can't resist its bouncing appeal to get on the dancefloor.
The second one is a rather minimal but again clever and haunting track:
it has a bit of the Laura Palmer spirit that chained us to Twin Peaks.

essential EURYTHMICS
Love is a Stranger / The Walk / Sweet Dreams / Jennifer / This City never sleeps /
Who's that Girl / Right by your Side / Here comes the Rain again / Paint a Rumour /
Sexcrime / Would I lie to you / There must be an angel / Sisters are doin' it for themselves /
When tomorrow comes / Thorn in my Side / The Miracle of Love

btw: I finally bought the remastered editions of album 2,3 and 4.

I bought the Eurythmics Box with the 8 remastered albums, and I think they are pretty good. Some nice bonus tracks from the singles, b-sides and remixes. They could have remastered Touch Dance and 1984 as well imo.

Sweet Dreams: buy! a classic album and good bonus material always loved Monkey Monkey
Touch: buy! not because of the bonus material, but because it's a good album that benefits from remastering
Be yourself tonight: buy! because it was so cheap ... but loved them more in their synth period

My thinking as well. If you buy any of the remasters, these would be my first choices.

I was given press release discs of the remasters prior to release and got a free box edition from the PR company for what I wrote, so quite chuffed with that.  Anyway, here's what I wrote about most (not all) of them:
