First, "Mata Ortiz Pottery" from my favorite dealer:

Quoted Text
Mata Ortiz Pottery is indeed the real pottery art from Mexico...as fine, if not finer than any Santa Fe Pottery or Southwestern Pottery being made today. Inspired by Casas Grandes Pottery and Paquim shards that Juan Quezada found as a young boy, pottery makers in America now travel to Mata Ortiz, Nuevos Casas Grandes and Casas Grandes to study some of finest ceramic pottery created. In fact, Juan Quezada's Ollas have elevated the level of quality of any Mexican-art pottery and ceramics. It is highly collectible pottery.

More images of these lovely works of art here.

Also, Wounaan and Embera Darien Rainforest Baskets:

Quoted Text
Each basket represented in this website is unique, painstakingly created over weeks, months, and sometimes years! Designs are inspired by the animals and plants of the rainforest surrounding these warm-hearted people. We hope you enjoy exploring the informative articles and images about the culture that created this unique and expressive art form.

I only own small pieces and drool over the rest!

Yes, the larger pieces can take that long.  They are working with really, really thin pieces of straw (or whatever plant that is).  Much finer than you'd usually see in baskets, almost like fabric.  Amazing stuff.

OK, but there'd better be some glitter on that bog paper and some intricate geometric etchings on those jugs!

Very observant - it's from their Bridal Collection!

And now, presenting Ashes and Snow:

Quoted Text
Gregory Colbert's Ashes and Snow is an ongoing project that weaves together photographic works, 35mm films, art installations and a novel in letters. With profound patience and an unswerving commitment to the expressive and artistic nature of animals, he has captured extraordinary interactions between humans and animals.

How beautiful things here!!! Mmmmmmmmm... My heart's melting...

Something Kurland-related...

One of the symbols of the Baltic Sea is amber. It isn't a real jewel, but its colour is so warm and sunny, that i prefer trinkets made of it.

Amber is about 30-90 million years old. Many Kurlanders (and also other Latvians) call it "pine's tears", because it was formed of pines' resin. The other popular "name" is "the Sun's tears", because the pieces of amber lie on the sea-ground, and waves wash it ashore.

Lol, now I've stumbled into the world of coloured stones, I've just learned that sapphires and rubies are the same stone (corundum), but that ruby is the name of red variant, while all other colours are called sapphires, except pure corundum which is clear.

More reading here (with beautiful pictures of the stones as well): http://www.gemstone.org/gem-by-gem/english/saphire_fancy.html

Had a look, but I think I prefer "traditional" diamonds - but only if they are real. None of this cubic zirconia crap!!!

The black diamond was pretty cool though!

Diamonds, you say, Maxine?

Check out chameleon diamonds:

Frankly, I dont see a big color change in the example above (still pretty and sparkly though, oooooh!), but I understand that there are diamonds in which the color change is much more intense.  These diamonds are THOUSANDS of dollars.

Ill just enjoy the pictures.

Wouldn't mind a couple of those in a nice ring setting or a lovely necklace!

Premier Windchimes.  These chimes are specially tuned.  They’re not much to look at but sound gorgeous!

I like Summer Simmer.

I got these chimes, and they are hanging on my front porch.  They sound gorgeous!  I highly recommend them.

Davis Blanchard wind chimes are on sale at windchimedirect.
