Hello, two times I had a offer of 2 diffrent persons to take care of their children. The first one I send an e mail, but never heard of anything.Later on I saw a message of her on a site.
the second one called me and make a appointment to meet each other, before I start. That was 10 o'clock this morning.20 min later she mailed of if she can come after one, because she had to work.
I just said o.k.
Now it's 18.48 and she didn't visit me.I'm very frustated at the moment.
These 2 people had my convidential ashamed.
So I put now in my messages that I was looking to serious people

I HATE people who can't keep their word, or appointments. You certainly don't want to employ them djpamm, clearly they won't be reliable...

It's hard when you are starting because most parents prefer to go to someone that is recommended by someone they know. Just keep trying. My first work was via a local college, where I registered my details. Try to advertise as many places as you can, then once you are known you should find you have plenty of work. Fingers crossed.

o.k. I had to be quiet, but my steam is coming out of my ears(almost flaming)
Monday I had a appointment with someone who wants that i had to take care of her child.
But she din't come, because she can find me.So i Had to make a appointment for today. She didn't came again,so I called her.And she said that she forget the appointment >
She wants to come next week. The problem is,we get a new toilet floor and wall and new bathroom floor.and it will take 2 weeks.
So she said: can come at december the 10th.I jaust said that it was o.k.,but after 3 o 'clock(my husband has nightshift)
Then she said I don't know, because I had to look out for work.So I will call you.
Really I'm angry,pissed.

AAAAAAck!  How frustrating!

Keep plugging away, though.  I'm sure you'll get a break soon - in the form of a reliable client.

I only find it baffling that some people treat interviewing a child-minder the same as an appointment for, say, a manicure.

I remember I had one lady turn up 6 months after she first came to see me and never got back to me. She then expected me to take her child at that moment with no notice. When I explained she would have to settle the child in gradually, she never came back...

But once you get started, I'm sure you will do just fine, djpamm. Deep breath and count to 10...
Just make sure you get some payment in advance, or that could be your next headache... do you have a basic contract you can use with parents?

hello everybody, this day was the second time that i babysit on the two children.
The children test me out.The one is go to bed and sleeps, while the other doesn't wants to sleep and make some noise and the other time the other doe the same. With my little sweet angel Enya I don't have sleeping problems. She go to bed, talks, somtimes cries for 5 minutes and go to sleep. We did this when she was very young,so we doesn't had any problems.Their mother said, that I had to sit with them, until they sleep.Or it will take long or not.........
Even though they don't like to eat breadcrusts and vegetables.
With Enya I have non of these problems so little advise of Sandra will be welcome.

Hi djpamm.

Great news that you have made a start! So pleased for you.

As for the sleeping and eating, well it's very early days and so too soon to worry. It takes a while to get kids into a new routine. I will pm you.

Dear friends.
Today the parents of the children who'd been taking care of,promissed me to call me back today.
We made this deal 3 weeks ago.I asked them 3 times if they will not forgot it and the answere was still no,we will not forget. And they still not call me back. The advise of sandra was,to call the parents. So I did it,but nobody pick up the phone and there was no answering machine, where I can leave my message.
This is the 3rd time That I had to call them back. the first time she lost my phone numbers.a cell and a secret homenumber and the second time I waited 'till 18.30 pm and call them back.
and I think That I did enough to get this job.An even no I didn't had a contract.'The prommised me to get one at the 1rst of Dec.
and I don't know what to do.

Sorry to hear about the unreliable clients.

Is there some sort of agency you could use to find them? An agency would do a lot to fliter out the timewasters.

Another possibility is a local college with mature students. These places probably have creches, but maybe they could use childminders working from home too. Students with children have to be organised, and keep to timetables.
