I've got some mp3 files which seem regular enough but I can't seem to move them onto my ipod (it refuses them without giving any reason). The only 'funny' thing I see is that in Windows they are shown as 0 (zero) kbps as opposed to the usual 192 or 128 kbps.
How can they be at '0' ?? ..perhaps there's some kind of protection?
I originally got them by burning a CDR. They copied Ok from another CDR to HD in mp3 no prob.

Any ideas folks?

whats the file sizes (MB), what program did you use to burn them (and what type of process ie mp3 to CDR, music CD etc)

or did you copy the music files and rename them to mp3?

remember you have to 'rip' the audio from a music CD, you can't just copy it. iTunes will do this automatically for you and sync to ipod, or even use Windows media player.

More info we have the easier to figure it out.

Thanks Corkie .. I 'ripped' the CDR using good old CDex .. but anyway I'm going to try again see if they do it properly this time . .or I might even use iTunes directly, which is all quite new to me .. does it rip to mp3 tho? ..

I'll try it and see ..

There's also a type of encoding that not many programs show the correct length for. Do they play correctly? And how big is the size of the files?

Mark, may i recommend a program called DBPoweramp? http://www.dbpoweramp.com

It will rip CDs and convert any audio type to another simply by right clicking the file(s) you want to convert. Worth its weight in Gold!! Don't forget to go to the codec page and get all the codecs you'll need.

PS I didn't even know CDex was still around!!! Used to use it years ago

as for iTunes you can drag and drop mp3s into the playlis, but they will be sync'ed as AAC files on the ipod.
