Get this client program first, this allows you to connect and login to the FTP Host (Neils Server)...

http://filezilla-project.org/

This one is Free and works well.

OK when installed, run the program and you'll see a File-Explorer like interface.

Neil will have given you a username and a password, heres where you need them.

At the top left hand corner theres an Icon for the Site Manager (STEP 1). Click this to get the dialogue box (STEP 2).

  • Set up the dialogue box as shown:

Click the 'NEW SITE' button and give it a name (it'll show in the left hand pane. I called it 'OMDFAN'.)

Highlight the new name in the left hand pane and you'll then be able to edit the details on the right.

Enter HOST as ftp.omdfan.co.uk. You don't need a port number.

Enter the username Neil gave you (e.g. user@omdfan.co.uk)

Enter the password Neil gave you.

Ensure SERVERTYPE is FTP - File Transfer Protocol, and LOGONTYPE is set to Normal.

Click Connect and all being well you should connect to Neils Server. Now you need to transfer files. Thats the easy bit!

Select the files from your machine on the Left (Local) to The required folder (MP3) on the right. The window at the bottom will tell you when they are done.

Hope that helps. Give me a Mail/PM if you still dont get it to work.

OH Dont forget to allow the FTP program in your firewall too!

Mark, once you have the FTP client set up etc, its dead easy. All you will need to do is to FTP the MP3 into a folder, and the script will do all of the work for you, its as easy as uploading to Rapidshare.

Mark, do you have a method to reduce the MP3 bitrates? 10 megs is pretty big? But will go take a quick look. You can also download and ammend the actual art work if you wish.. I do have verything backed up here.

Mark to reduce the bitrate get DBPoweramp. It will allow you to right click the file, and encode, all you need to do is change the bitrate to about 56kbps.

To replace anything delete the original on the FTP Host drive (Neils end) then just rename your file to the same as the original, or give the it the same name and allow to overwrite.

as for the other questiosns, yes just a case of drag and drop them from where you have them to the MP3 folder on Neils Drive. It will take some tim for them to upload but theres a progress bar at the bottom of the FTP program. You can do multiple files to save time.
