Neil can you PM me details/flyers of the Ultra pack? I am interested not only for myself, but as it happens, we may have a little custom at work too. Things are changing within our infrastructure, we need a host and domain name, and 4 subdomains (one for each base).... and we have potential customers looking for storage space for a couple of projects (Polish projects) that I may be able to push your way. I will be meeting them Thursday if you have something printable for this it would be a great help. Otherwise I'll print the details from the website itself.

It will be slow going due to time and the learning curve (I can do some HTML, but limited and I hate it!) but it should take some shape soon!


I particularly like how you can password protect any page on the site so easily!

Back to topic from me, (steady, tiger..!) I can really recommend one of Neil's packages should anyone want to have a dabble at being a 'webmaster' or hosting a website. Theres a lot of options, much is scripted and done for you which so far works extremely well, and the options are vast. Well worth a go If you feel the inclination!

I have cosidered doing something like this, but haven't the foggiest what I would make the site about. I don't exactly want the world to know my life up to now. especially with ID fraud about.

But I don't really know enough about anything else. Unless I do a Did You Know..... and give out tons of general knowledge for the pub quizzmasters out there.

That would take up a LOT of time Nigel. But you're right not to give out your own details. If you wanted to run a diary of sorts there always the Blog sites...

I just had a common interest, what with the photography and enjoying where I live, and I may help a couple of local folks out who need a website and don't know how or where to start. Just something static to promote what they do (voluntary organisation and Church sites,related to my job).

I do own another domain name (The Corky100.co.uk) but its MS Based, free and very restricted, but for a basic website, email address and 500mb of storage it does have its uses. Plus the Domain name registration was free too which is unusual (Its mainly aimed at business but they would need a premium account website for it to be of any value to them)

But I have learned to make a start point, then add as you need to. As for the actual building theres a lot of software about that makes it really easy, theres a load of info about HTML/CSS and other code on http://www.w3.org/ and then (If any other hosts are as Neils is) there will be tools to build a site there. Don't let a lack of knowledge of coding put you off. I have a limited knowledge, but I learn fast, and theres always folks around happy to help. (I'm one of them, as I'm pretty sure Neil is).

And, There is a thing called web builder, so you can make a web site with no techie know how.. and I also have another add on called Web Builder Plus  

As Corky says, now days you do not need to be a techie to have a web site.. But with a package like mine, there are many pre installed scripts, that, well just install for you, and look good..

Part of the fun, of running your own web site, is starting.. then developing, then getting it better..
